2023 Quebec Music Competition (7th Edition) - Winner's Biography
Oliver Gruhn - Composition - Germany - Absolute Platinum Medalist
Oliver Gruhn was born in 1968, at the age of 8 he got trumpet lessons, two years later he was accepted at the special school for music "Hanns Eisler". There he changed to trombone at th age of 12 and studied trombone with Gerhard Haas and composition with Prof. Dr. Wolfram Heicking at the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" Berlin. From 1988 until today he has been both deputy principal trombonist and principal trombonist of the Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock.
Oliver Gruhn's compositional output is wide-ranging, encompassing chamber music pieces, large-scale symphonic pieces, stage music, jazz compositions, a solo concerto, film music, opera and five major orchestral song cycles. Through the song he has a close collaboration with the soprano Diana Schnürpel since 2020, she has already recorded most of the songs for soprano.

Sacha is a 10 year old Canadian Violinist who started lessons at age 5, and made his Solo debut at age 6 when he performed on stage for over an hour at Olympic Plaza. He plays First Violin with the Conservatory Sinfonia Orchestra, is a member of a Chamber group Trio-Magico, and works on his Solo repertoire with his mentor Concertmaster, Diana Cohen.
Sacha has been a member of 5 orchestras, including the Elgar Orchestra (2023) where he performed alongside Concertmasters Andrew Wan (Montreal) and Jonathan Crow (Toronto) in the Bella Hall.
In July 2022, Sacha was the Grand Prize winner of his age category for all instruments at the Canadian Music Competition (CMC) in Quebec City.
Sacha at age 9 was honoured to Solo with the Quebec Symphony Orchestra on the July 4 th Gala Concert, and received a standing ovation. His heart filled with joy when he was welcomed back to QC and invited by maestro Marc David to perform Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto with the Sherbooke Symphony Orchestra.
In 2021, Sacha entered his first music competition and loved it!! From 2021 to present, he has achieved the highest grades awarded. In CPAF 2023, he won all of UPPERSTRINGS and went on to win our Provincials (awarded FIRST PLACE for VIOLIN SOLO in the AMFA finals for 2021, 2022 and 2023).

Tiffany Tsui - Violin - Absolute Platinum Medalist - Violin
16-year-old Tiffany Tsui is a multidisciplinary artist attending Trinity School in New York City. She plays the violin and piano, sang with Broadway Youth Ensemble, and is a ballerina who trained at the School of American Ballet for 7 years. Tiffany studies violin with Nurit Pacht at Kaufman Music Center's Young Artist Program.
She has won many international awards including first prizes with Quebec Music Competition (Absolute Platinum prize, May 2023), Grand Metropolitan International Music Competition (Platinum prize, March 2023), Cambridge Music Competition, Young Artist and Concerto (March, 2023), Charleston International Music Competitions for Romantic Music & European Music (Fall, 2022), International Youth Music Competition (May 2022), Vivo International Music Competition (Jan 2022), London Young Musician (2021), Grand Prize Virtuoso in Bonn, Germany (Fall, 2020), & NY State Music Teachers’ Association Heddy Killian Competition (Fall 2020).
In Spring 2022, her piano trio, “Trinity Trio”, won the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s Young Musician competition, where they performed at Lincoln Center. They also won Anselmo Academy's International Youth Competition, and American Protégé International Piano & Strings Competition, with performances at St Stephen’s Church, and Carnegie Hall. Also in 2022, Tiffany's string quartet "Tetrad" won first prize in the USA Classical Music International Competition. Both ensembles won first prizes at the Charleston International Music Competition 2022. In March 2023, Tetrad were Gold Prize winners in the Chamber Music competition of the Cambridge Music Competition.Tiffany has played in Master Classes with the Harlem String Quartet at Merkin Hall (2023), with Credo’s Jonathan Ong (2022), and Igor Petrushevski (2019). Tiffany is currently a youth ambassador with Concerts in Motion and volunteers weekly with Ballet and Beyond. She started a community concert series called Arts for Hope for musical outreach and community building.
Vlad Răzvan BACIU - Composition - Platinum Medalist - Romania
Vlad Răzvan BACIU is a prolific composer, whose portfolio includes more than 100 orchestral works, choral works, operas, and chamber music pieces. Baciu has been awarded multiple musical composition scholarships in Romania, Germany, Netherlands, Estonia, Greece, and Bulgaria, and has participated in several prestigious European Union competitions, receiving numerous awards and prizes. In 2020, he was invited to reside at the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg (Institute for Advanced Studies) in Delmenhorst, Germany as Artist-in-Residence where he composed the “Candle of the Soul” opera. And in 2021, he received the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship to conduct a research on the American Contemporary Music and compose chamber and symphonic works at Indiana University, Jacobs School of Music.
Yongjae Lee - Baritone - Platinum Medalist - South Korea
Yongjae Lee, a South Korean Baritone, received a bachelor's degree in classical voice from Seoul National University (SNU) and a master's in Voice Performance from the Manhattan School of Music (MSM) in New York. He won the 1st Prize in The 5th New York International Music Competition and got an &Edward C. Braunstein, New York Assemblyman Award, and he performed in The 5th New York International Music Concours of Winner's Recitalat the Bruno Walter Auditorium in Lincoln Center, New York. In addition, he got 1st Prize from Dr. Larry Day Memorial Voice Competition and a President's competition voice winner at the University of Arizona and got Distinguished Baritone in the Voice Area Concerto Competition Award for Outstanding Academic and Musical Achievement.
He performed the roles Gianni Schicchi, Leporello and Grandpa Moss' in the University of Arizona Opera Theater production and Peter in Hänsel und Gretel at the Chicago Summer Opera Festival. He is the Arizona Opera Ambassador performing Artistfrom 2022. He is pursuing a D.M.A. as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Arizona (UOA), Fred Fox School of Music, under the tutelage of Professor Yunah Lee.
Anna Ivanova - Voice - Platinum Medalist - USA
Anna Ivanova is a Belarusian-born economist currently working at the International Monetary Fund. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a Master's degree in Economic Development from Vanderbilt University, and a Master's degree in Nuclear Physics from Belarusian State University. Alongside her professional career, Anna has actively pursued her love for singing. She has been taking private voice lessons with renowned opera singers Jennifer Casey Cabot and Olga Romanko, further honing her musical skills.
Anna has showcased her musical talent through various notable performances, including at the State of the Arts Cultural Series organized by the U.S. Department of State, a concert at the Kaufman Music Center in New York, and a concert at the Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington D.C. Additionally, she has participated in a range of performances organized by Seeds of Hope Armenia, the Potomac Vocal Institute, and the Society of Veterans of Belarus, among others.
Anna's musical abilities have earned recognition: she was awarded the first prize at the 2022 2nd Swiss International Music Competition and the gold medal at the 2023 Nobel-Artist International Music Competition.

William Kim - Percussion - USA - Platinum Medalist
Percussionist William Kim will be a rising fourth-year percussion student at Western University’s Don Wright Faculty of Music, where he is a student of Dr. Jill Ball.
Beginning private percussion lessons with Dr. Adam Rappel at the University of Minnesota at age 14, William has since performed frequently throughout Canada, Hungary, Italy, Poland, and the United States. He was named a Platinum Medal winner of the 2023 Quebec Music Competition, finalist in the 2023 Chicago International Music Competition, runner-up in Western University’s 2023 Maritsa Brookes Concerto Competition, and was one of two showcased students in the 2023 Ontario Percussive Arts Society’s Day of Percussion Showcase Concert. As a member of the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies’ (GTCYS) Symphony Orchestra, William toured Eastern Europe with the orchestra in 2018 and on their performing tour to Southern Italy in 2022. As a winner of Minnesota Public Radio’s Minnesota Varsity competition in 2020, William’s performance and interview were showcased and broadcast on Minnesota Public Radio.
William currently performs with Western University’s Symphony Orchestra (principal percussionist), Wind Ensemble, Opera Chamber Orchestra and Percussion Ensemble, and is an extra percussionist with the London Community Orchestra. He currently resides in London, Ontario.
Yifu Peng - Piano - China - Platinum Medalist
Yifu Peng, born and raised in Shenzhen, China, developed a passion for music at a young age. Starting piano lessons at 8, his dedication and natural talent propelled him through his studies.
Yifu earned his Bachelor's degree in piano performance from Xinghai Conservatory of Music. Seeking to broaden his musical horizons, he pursued a Master's degree at the renowned Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University Bloomington.
Currently, Yifu is immersed in a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) program at MSU, guided by acclaimed pianist Magarita Shevchenko. This rigorous program refines his artistry and technique, preparing him for a successful career as a professional pianist.
Yifu's exceptional talent has earned him recognition and accolades in the classical music world. Notably, he was awarded the Distinguished Gold Medal at the 2023 Seattle International Piano Festival Classical Series and the Silver Medal at the 2023 Orbetello International Piano Competition. With his remarkable achievements and profound musicality, Yifu Peng is poised to make a lasting impact on the world stage of classical music.
Haixiang Ge - Violist - Platinum Medalist - China
Haixiang Ge is an accomplished violist who holds a Bachelor's degree in Viola from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music (SHCM) and a Master's degree in Viola from the Tianjin Juilliard School (TJS). In 2023, he was awarded the Gold Medal at the Best Classical Music Awards in the United Kingdom and the Royale Music Competition. Furthermore, he emerged as the winner of the Ball State University Concerto Competition, performing Bartok's Viola Concerto alongside the Ball State Symphony Orchestra in the spring of 2023.
Haixiang has also held the position of principal violist in numerous orchestras, including the Tianjin Juilliard Orchestra, the Asian Youth Orchestra, and the Ball State Symphony Orchestra, among others. He was featured as a performing artist at the 2022 Tianjin International Music Festival and Festival Connect. In the summer of 2023, he received a Fellowship to participate in the Aspen Music Festival. Currently, he is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degree in Performance at the University of Miami under the guidance of Jodi Levitz.
Heidi Robichaud - Saxophone - Platinum Medalist - Canada
C’est à l’âge de 12 ans, grâce à sa participation dans la fanfare des Cadets de la Marine de Rimouski, qu’Heidi Robichaud a joué ses premières notes au saxophone. Elle poursuit actuellement ses études au Conservatoire de musique de Rimouski auprès du saxophoniste Louis-Philippe Bonin.
Parallèlement à ses études, elle est membre des ensembles suivants :
• Ensemble baroque du Conservatoire, à titre de flûtiste alto;
• Orchestre des jeunes maritimes du Québec, à titre de saxophoniste alto et
• Ensemble Antoine Perreault, à titre de première saxophoniste alto.
Elle a participé à plusieurs concours d’envergure et remporté une majorité de première places. Elle a également eu l’occasion de performer comme soliste invitée par l’Orchestre métropolitain à la Maison symphonique de Montréal en avril 2023 lors de leur concert « Le Pelleteur de nuages ».
Heidi a l’intention de poursuivre ses études au Conservatoire de Rimouski. Multiinstrumentiste, elle est passionnée de musique. En plus du saxophone, elle étudie le piano, le chant classique, la clarinette, la cornemuse, sans oublier la guitare électrique.
It was at the age of 12, thanks to her participation in the Rimouski Marine Cadets band, that Heidi Robichaud played her first notes on the saxophone. She is currently pursuing her studies at the Rimouski Music Conservatory with saxophonist Louis-Philippe Bonin
Alongside her studies, she is a member of the following ensembles:
• Baroque Ensemble of the Conservatoire, as alto flautist;
• Orchestre des jeunes maritimes du Québec, as alto saxophonist and
• Ensemble Antoine Perreault, as first alto saxophonist.
She participated in several major competitions and won a majority of first places. She also had the opportunity to perform as a guest soloist with the Orchester métropolitain at the Maison symphonique de Montréal in April 2023 during their concert “Le Pelleteur de nuages”.
Heidi intends to pursue her studies at the Rimouski Conservatory. Multi-instrumentalist, she
is passionate about music. In addition to the saxophone, she studies the piano, classical singing,
clarinet, bagpipes, not to mention the electric guitar.

Heidi a l’intention de poursuivre ses études au Conservatoire de Rimouski. Multiinstrumentiste, elle est passionnée de musique. En plus du saxophone, elle étudie le piano, le chant classique, la clarinette, la cornemuse, sans oublier la guitare électrique.
It was at the age of 12, thanks to her participation in the Rimouski Marine Cadets band, that Heidi Robichaud played her first notes on the saxophone. She is currently pursuing her studies at the Rimouski Music Conservatory with saxophonist Louis-Philippe Bonin
Alongside her studies, she is a member of the following ensembles:
• Baroque Ensemble of the Conservatoire, as alto flautist;
• Orchestre des jeunes maritimes du Québec, as alto saxophonist and
• Ensemble Antoine Perreault, as first alto saxophonist.
She participated in several major competitions and won a majority of first places. She also had the opportunity to perform as a guest soloist with the Orchester métropolitain at the Maison symphonique de Montréal in April 2023 during their concert “Le Pelleteur de nuages”.
Heidi intends to pursue her studies at the Rimouski Conservatory. Multi-instrumentalist, she
is passionate about music. In addition to the saxophone, she studies the piano, classical singing,

Tomasz Stożek - Accordion - Poland - Platinum Medalist
Tomasz Stożek is a student of the second year of accordion class of the Secondary Music School in the Ignacy Paderewski Music School Complex in Białystok. He has been working under the direction of Prof. Jerzy Kozłowski since his first contact with the accordion at the age of six. He is also a member of the Białystok Accordion Trio working under the direction of Mr. Bogdan Obrycki. Tomasz actively participates in the artistic life of his school and beyond, performing in many national and international competitions, including Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Great Britain, France, the USA and many other countries.
Josephine Van Hoey - Violin - USA - Platinum Medalist
Josephine Van Hoey has studied violin since age 5 and currently studies in the L’adoré studio of Sarah Foard and with Dr. Laura Kobayashi. Josephine has held multiple titled positions with the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras in progressive ensembles and this season was co-principal of violin II with the Symphonic Orchestra (AYSO). Josephine has led string quartets and trios as violin I in chamber ensembles throughout metro DC, including in an NSO-coached Junior Chamber Ensemble program, performing publicly and in masterclasses with the Ensemble da Camera of Washington. In addition to violin, Josephine performs in school orchestras on the double bass and viola. Josephine was a gold medalist in the Seattle International Piano Competition’s 2021 Bach Festival for Keyboard and Strings, a finalist for the Washington Performing Arts Society’s Feder Competition in 2022, and a platinum medalist in the 2023 Quebec International Music Competition. In addition to performing, Josephine enjoys coaching elementary- and middle-grade musicians. In her free time, she relaxes with woodworking, knitting, swimming, and biking with friends.
Ángel Fernando Curbelo Jorge - Composition - Spain - Platinum Medalist
Ángel Fernando Curbelo Jorge, Spanish composer of mostly orchestral, chamber and choral works that have been performed throughout Europe; he is also active as a conductor.
Mr. Curbelo began composing before he had a formal musical education. He studied conducting, saxophone and various aspects of music at the Conservatorio Superior de Música in Santa Cruz de Tenerife from 1983–93.
Among his honours is the Premio de la Música Miguel Castillo Modalidad Composición de la Ciudad de Güímar (2005, for Cuadros de Goymad [withdrawn]).
As a conductor, he served as director of the symphonic band on the island of El Hierro, Canary Islands from 1990–93, of the Agrupación la Filarmónica de Los Realejos from 1994–96 and of the Agrupación Musical Orotava in La Orotava from 1997–99.
He taught as a professor on the island of El Hierro, Canary Islands from 1990–93 and as a professor of musical language in La Orotava from 1997–99. Some of his scores are held at the P. I. Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moscow.
Annabella Ni – 13 years and under – Canada – Piano - Platinum
Annabella Ni is 13 years old who plays piano for fun. Her passion for this instrument started at the
age of 6, when she started taking music classes. In 2019, she was given the chance to perform at
Carnegie Hall after receiving the second prize in the Crescendo International Music Competition.
She hasn't participated in many competitions and keeps playing piano as a simple hobby.
Annabella is a person of various interest. Apart from piano, she also enjoys mathematics, different
forms of art, and sports such as volleyball and skiing.

Alexis Kwon - Flute - USA - Gold Medalist
Alexis Kwon, 17, has been playing flute in 4th grade with the teacher, Yuna Kim and has been playing for her school bands. She has participated in the recital for MTAC, Alameda County East recital in October 2019. She had been selected to play in the All Northern California Honor Band in 2020 and 2021. She has won awards in numerous competitions including the US International Open Music Competition, Silicon Valley music competition, American Protege International Woodwinds and Brass Competition, The Great Composer: the Art of Winds and Percussion Competition and Best Bach Performance Competition, the Music Legacy Open Competition, the "Vienna" Grand Prize Virtuoso international music competition, American Music Talent Competition, American Classical Young Musician Award, International Music Competition 2022 "Paris" Grand Prize Virtuoso and Golden Classical Music Awards-NY and LA. She also currently play in Oakland Symphony Youth Orchestra as a Flutist.
Emma Xu - Piano - Canada - Gold Medalist
Emma Xu, 13-year-old, is currently a secondary two student at the Pensionnat Saint-Nom-de-Marie Private School in Montreal. She has studied piano since seven years old and has become a very talented young pianist.
Emma has won many awards at international competitions, including twice Canadian International Music Competition Silver Prize, once in 2021 and another time in 2022, 2021 Quebec International Music Competition Gold Prize, 2021 Little Mozart Music Competition First place, 2023 Nobel-Artist International Music Competition Silver Prize and top gold medalist in Quebec International Music Competition in 2023.
Emma has great passion for music. Other than piano, she is also a clarinetist in her school’s orchestra and is in her school’s math club. In her free time, you will often find Emma drawing or biking.
Kamil Stephanov - Piano - UAE Dubai - Gold Medalist
Kamil Stepanov is a 6-year-old pianist who has already made numerous appearances on concert stages and participated in international piano competitions. He was born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan in 2016 and later relocated to the UAE.
At the age of 4, he began his first piano classes under the guidance of his teacher, Dono Mukumi. Even at a young age, Kamil displayed a keen interest in piano and symphonic music. He thoroughly enjoys attending classical concerts and holds a deep appreciation for the works of Bach and Mozart.
An exceptional achievement for Kamil came at the age of 4 when he was awarded first prize in the piano category of "The 4th New Talent British International Youth Music Competition" in London, organized by the Royal Music Academy, UK.
One of Kamil's most notable accomplishments, at the age of 6, was his performance of Mozart's Piano Concerto #28 in D major, K382 Rondo, accompanied by a second piano.

Izabela Wiktoria Oliwia Torfs - Piano - Belgium / Poland - Gold Medalist (Piano), Silver Medalist (Violin), Medalist of 2 Bronze Medals (Composition)
Izabela Wiktoria Oliwia Torfs (Belgian-Polish, born:12.12.2012) started learning violin from S.Erkmenis in May 2019. In 2022 A.Morozova also became Izabela’s violin tutor. In September 2019, Izabela added piano to her curriculum, under tutorship of H.Keser. In September 2022 she joined the first violins at the Youth Viotta ensemble.
In April 2023 due to a right hand injury which obliged her to take a 2 months break in playing violin/piano, Izabela started self-study in composition and begon to compose complete pieces winning fast her first prizes in composition music competitions.
She has given violin and/or piano concerts at the Musikverein in Vienna, Royal Albert Hall in London, Mozarteum Salzburg, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Amphithéâtre Cité de la Musique-Philharmonie de Paris, Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona; also invited to perform at the Carnegie Hall in NYC, Walt Disney Concert Hall, BP Hall in Los Angeles, Centre for Fine Arts of Brussels.
In Barcelona Izabela performed her very first composition (“Tears”-piano/song lyrics); also invited to perform her piano-composition (“Romario”) in Toronto 2024 during Winners’ Recital under Pulsar Music.
She participated with her two compositions in the 2023 Charity Concert Event, “Harmonies for the Wild: Uniting Music and Nature in the Fight Against Wildfires”.
Slin Pongvitayapanu - Clarinet - Thailand - Gold Medalist
Slin Pongvitayapanu (Age 13) has been playing the clarinet for 3 years. She is a Middle School Symphonic Band member of the International School Bangkok (ISB), Thailand. From the very start of choosing to play the clarinet, Slin was very passionate and inspired by many other great musicians in the community. She recently was selected to join the AMIS Honor Band (The Association for Music in International Schools) and performed with the top band students from all over Asia at the Gala Concert took place at the American School of Bombay, India in March 2023. After only one year of learning the clarinet, Slin passed the Trinity College London Clarinet Examination Grade 1 with Distinction and was Thailand’s 2nd highest scorer. In addition, she received the Gold Prize from Quebec Music Competition (2023), the Fourth Place at Hong Kong International Youth Performance Arts Festival (2022) and the Silver Medal at Thailand International Clarinet Competition (2021). Slin recently received the Second Prize from International Youth Music Competitions, USA and was invited to perform at the Prize Winners' Recital in New York City in September 2023.
Nathanicha (Mina) Vajarasthira - Clarinet - Thailand - Gold Medalist
Nathanicha (Mina) Vajarasthira is a devoted young Thai clarinetist. She is a part of International School Bangkok's symphonic band. After playing the clarinet for 3 years, she won the Gold prize for London Young Musician in 2022, and later this year she received Second Prize from the International Youth Music Competitions, USA performing Troubadour ABRSM Grade 5. Within this month she is honored to receive the Gold Prize from Quebec International Music Competition 2023. In February 2023 she successfully auditioned into AMIS which took place in Mumbai, India. She was also invited to perform at the Prize Winners’ Recital in New York City in september. This is just the beginning of a long journey; music has grown her as an individual and helped her find joy in a passion.
Liam Ruidera – Piano – USA – Gold Medalist
Liam Ruidera is a 11-year-old elementary school student from California. He began playing piano at age 4 and is currently learning under the tutelage of Anne Isaakyan Bäder, a graduate of the Leningrad Conservatory in Russia. This year, Liam performed at Carnegie Hall in New York as a Silver Award recipient of the AADGT International Young Musicians Festival. Aside from piano, Liam also enjoys playing the clarinet. He is an avid LEGO builder and video game player.
Elayna Lee - Piano – United States - Gold Medalist
Elayna Lee is a six-year-old girl from California who began private piano lessons
with Ms. Peyhwan Kuan on January 2023 which totally change Elayna’s piano
perspective. After 5 months of practicing, this is her first time participating in
online piano competitions.
Besides piano, Elayna also enjoys Kung Fu (2 nd belt - yellow), Ballet and Clay Art.
At her spare time, she likes to play with her friends and help her mom to do

Jacqueline Yan Wing Leung - Piano – Gold Medalist, Descant Recorder – Gold Medalist (Hong Kong)
Born in Hong Kong in 2018, Jacqueline Yan Wing Leung started playing descant recorder, clarinet and piano at the age of 3. After 9 months of lessons with her mother, she attained
ABRSM Grade 2 in Piano Performance with Merit. At 4, She attained ABRSM Grade 3 in Descant Recorder Performance with Distinction and Grade 2 in Clarinet Performance with Merit. She currently studies under the tutelage of Ms Phyllis Chan (recorder), Mr Kenneth Kan (Clarinet), and Ms Eva Lue (piano).

Aanya Tungala is 14 years old, and has been playing the piano for 5 years. She is working on learning more diverse pieces with her teacher, Ms. Kristine Janusa. Aanya lives in New Jersey with her parents, sister, and dog. Along with playing the piano, Aanya’s pastimes also include writing stories and poems. Aanya is a returning contestant, and she hopes to continue to grow as a musician.
Jade Rojas - Voice - USA - Gold Medalist
Jade is very passionate about music. She is 17 years old and has just graduated from North Fort Myers High School. She was part of her high school Jazz Band, Symphonic Band, Percussion, Marching Band, Advanced Women's Choir, Mixed Choir and Treble Choir. She has played trombone, synthesizer, piano and bass drum, but her true passion is singing classical music.
Jade started taking private voice lessons when she was 10 years old and since then she has performed as chorister in opera productions like Carmen, La Traviata, La Boheme and Tosca with Opera Naples and GulfShore Opera. She was part of Sarasota Youth Opera and last year she played the lead role of Penny in their youth opera production "The secret world of “Og". She played cousin Hebe in Opera Naples youth production "H.M.S Pinafore" and she will play the lead role of Phyllis in their upcoming youth production “Iolanthe”. Jade has attended Interlochen, ArtsBridge and Boston University Tanglewood Institute summer camps. She has participated in various local and international voice competitions where she has won many awards. It is Jade's goal to major in vocal performance and is her dream to travel the world as an ambassador for Opera.
Bach Nguyen – Composition – Vietnam – Gold Medalist
Bach Nguyen has been graduated in Home Recording fro School of Audio Engineering (SAE) in Munich in 1996. He was graduated about Orchestral Conducting from Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) Conservatory in 2002 and obtained a Ph. D. degree in Musicology from Vietnam National Academy of Music in 2015. After 11 years of working in the HCMC Conservatory, he has opened B.A.C.H Music School with many students who become the laureats of some international music competitions.
By the time he has worked as a lecturer in Faculty of Design and Arts (Hoa Sen University) in Ho Chi Minh City. He is also a member of the Vietnam Musician Association and of the Editorial Board of the Vietnam Encyclopedia. Not only in secular music, he is also interested in church music. Since 20 years, he has organised the Suoi Viet Choir to serve in the Catholic churches in Vietnam.
Asterios Theodorou - Cello - Greece - Silver Medalist
Asterios Theodorou was born in 2005 in Athens, Greece and he is a senior student in music high school with grades 19.2 out of 20. He started studying the Cello at the age of 11 with professor Yiorgos Kaloudis, a cellist, classical cretan lyra performer, improviser and composer.
Apart from his cello lessons, he studies at Atheneum Conservatoire and Kodaly Conservatoire advanced music theory, chamber music and also the piano with Alexandra Papastefanou (pianodiploma in 1 year).
He has a degree in musical harmony with honors
He won the 1st prize in 34th Χ.Ο.Ν. piano competition in 2019.
He has performed with orchestras in Athens Concert Hall, Greek National Opera, Olympian Theatre and Palace Theatre. In 2023 (March) had a solo performance playing Bach and he has booked another solo concert in May playing Saint-Saens
He is a tactical member of Underground Youth Orchestra (UYO), a symphonic orchestra of Athens Concert Hall and has played with distinguished conductors, such as Christoph Eschenbach, Justus Frantz and Michalis Ekonomou. He is also the cello leader of the school string orchestra and joins musical ensembles duets, trios and
quartets.
He has attended masterclasses under the direction of Dimitris Patras (16th Lefkas Music Week, Jul 2022), Joel Marosi (Athens Concert Hall January 2023) and Martin Smith (Megaron Athens February 2022)
It’s difficult to predict the future but with music everything can become possible. I would like to see myself sitting, ready to play, on a stage of a big auditorium full of people and after a successful performance, gaining their approval with a big applause. I would like to think that maybe, sometime, I will be the inspiration for possible future musicians. I would like to become a great tutor and pass to my students all the beautiful experiences and feelings that music has given to me. I want to be someone that people look up to, listen to my music, and feel at peace, feel a connection with their inner selves because, that’s how I got so far.
Jonathan Zhou - Trumpet - Australia - Silver Medalist
Jonathan is a bright young 13 year old who lives in Christchurch,
New Zealand. He is currently a year 9 student studying at Burnside
High School. He plays the trumpet and passed the grade 5 trinity
exam with distinction and on the other hand Jonathan also plays the
piano which he is currently playing in grade 8. Jonathan is a music
ambassador in Burnside High School and has accomplished many
things but the most recognizable achievements are being in the
Burnside Big Band, first trumpeter in the 2021 music festival concert
band, solo trumpeter in the 2022 music festival symphony orchestra
and is playing in the burnside symphonic and junior concert band.
Aside from music Jonathan also has an interest in cooking and
sports such as golf, basketball and swimming. He is an avid golf
player and plays tournaments throughout New Zealand and recently
placed second in the under 13 order of merit competition.
Seiji Yoneda - Dimitrov - French Horn - New Zealand - Silver Medalist
Seiji was born in Christchurch, New Zealand in 2010.
He started learning Piano and French Horn as a young child. He is currently in his first year as a Burnside High School student.
Seiji is a member of the Burnside High School Orchestra and BHS Symphonic Band. Seiji also enjoys singing and as a member of Christchurch Boys Choir was given the Award for most Improved Chorister (2022). He is also a member of the Burnside High School Choir “Aurora Voices.”
Seiji’s achievements include Heaton Intermediate School “Best Music Achievements Cup” 2021 and 2022, Christchurch Music Festival Medal as well as First Prize (French Horn) in the Christchurch Music Society Competitions (2022). Seiji is one of the school Ambassadors for Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, he has participated in various instrumental, orchestral and vocal workshops as well as in the community programs of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.
Seiji is also an avid golf player, regularly participating in various golf tournaments throughout New Zealand.
Dillon Tinkey - Clarinet - Thailand - Silver Medalist
Dillon Tinkey is a young Thai-American clarinetist. He began to play the clarinet in 2021 and joined a middle school band at International School Bangkok. At the very start, Dillon surprisingly was able to teach himself and play music by ear. A month later, he began to take private lessons from his clarinet teacher, Pimnatthika Angkanajerathiti (Kru Bow) who is the Founder of Bangkok International Clarinet Academy. Dillon loves practicing and improves very quickly within the first year of playing the clarinet, he won the Gold Prize from London Young Musician, Second Prize from Vienna Virtuoso Music Festival and the First Prize from the International Youth Music Competitions, USA and was invited to perform at the Prize Winners' Recital in New York City. Dillon is delighted and very grateful for being awarded the Silver Prize at Quebec Music Competition 2023.
Chartarporn Saikuar - Clarinet - Thailand - Silver Medalist
Chartarporn Saikuar (Age 13) is a young clarinetist from Bangkok, Thailand. She is very hard working and has a love and passion for playing the clarinet. She is greatly inspired to keep motivating her skills with the help and support from her clarinet teacher, Kru Bow - Pimnatthika Angkanajerathiti who is the Founder of Bangkok International Clarinet Academy and the Clarinet Artist of the Royal Global Clarinet, USA. During three years of playing the clarinet, she has been awarded several prizes such as the Trinity College London Thailand’s Third Highest Scorer in Thailand, the Silver Medal from Quebec Music Competition (2023), the Second Place at the Hong Kong International Youth Performing Arts Festival (2022) and the Silver Prize from Thailand International Clarinet Competition (2021). Tratrueng is a middle school symphonic band member at the International School Bangkok (ISB). She recently traveled to perform with many top band students from all over Asia at the American School of Bombay, India organized by AMIS (The Association for Musics in International School). She recently received the Second Prize at the International Youth Music Competitions, USA and was invited to perform at the Prize Winners’ Recital in New York City in September 2023.

Tomas Lardiez is a 11-year-old pianist starting 6 th grade next fall. He started taking piano
lessons at the age of 8. For his first year, he only did virtual classes due to the pandemic.
Despite the challenges, he quickly developed a passion for music and has been practicing
regularly ever since. Apart from playing the piano, Tomas enjoys playing tennis and building
LEGOs. He is also an avid reader and he lives in Miami, FL.

My name is Chengjin(Stacey) Shi. I was born in Beijing and moved to USA with my parents when I was 3 years old. I started to take private piano lessons on the day of my 7th birthday. Because of the pandemic , I took classes online for 2 years. I enjoy playing and I was so happy and fulfilled when I could finally play a piece well after hours of practice. Half years ago, I started to learn piano with my current teacher Tatiana, and my techniques were improved tremendously. Her enthusiasms and deep love of music inspired me in every class I had. She taught me how to feel the touch, how to creat good music. I started to participate in international competition this year and I also won first prize in Golden Classical Music Awards, New York, 2023.

Kyla Ruidera – Piano – USA – Silver Medalist
Kyla Ruidera is a 13-year-old high school student from California. She began playing piano at age 4 and is currently learning under the tutelage of Anne Isaakyan Bäder, a graduate of the Leningrad Conservatory in Russia. Kyla has performed the last two years at Carnegie Hall in New York as a multiple-award recipient of the AADGT International Young Musicians Festival (Gold in 2020 and 2023, Silver in 2021 and 2022). She received Gold Medals at the Quebec International Music Competition (2021 and 2022) and two Silver Medals at the North American Virtuoso International Music Competition (2021). Kyla has
won trophies for various categories at the Southwestern Youth Music Festival (Los Angeles) from 2018 through 2022. She earned Silver Awards at WPTA Singapore and Bronze Awards at WPTA Finland from 2020 through 2023. Kyla enjoys reading and spending time with her family.
Anvitha Tungala - Piano - USA - Bronze Medalist
Anvitha Tungala is 7 years old, and has been playing the piano for two years. In her free time, she enjoys reading and creating art. She lives in New Jersey, with her parents, sister, and dog. Anvitha is taught piano by Ms. Kristine Janusa, and she’s currently working on developing technical skills. Anvitha is a returning contestant, and she has continued to grow as a musician.
