2024 Quebec Music Competition (Live and Online Competition)
Rules & Regulations
The goal of this competition is to challenge music students of all ages and levels to perform in a formal, competitive yet encouraging environment. Participants will receive constructive comments from judges and acknowledgment for their hard work. Winners will be invited to perform at the Winners' Gala Concert and prize presentation ceremony.

Prizes and Awards
Top winners of each major category will receive a special recognition perpetual trophy, an award certificate and a medal.
* Special monetary prizes will be offered to select top winners. Medals and certificates will be awarded to the following achievement categories 95% or above Platinum Medal 90% or above Gold Medal 85% and above Silver Medal Above 80% Bronze Medal Certificates will be awarded to 75% and above Honorable Mention * Teachers of winners may receive certificates of recognition upon request. |
Competition Rules & Format
International Online Music Competition
We welcome participants from all over the world to participate in our Quebec International Video Competition
Competition categories - solo, duo, trio, quartet, ensembles, and concerto competition categories for a variety of instruments including piano, strings (violin, cello, guitar), wind, brass instruments, percussion, voice and traditional instruments. We also accept composition, music arrangement, conducting, music cover, musical theatre.
Instruments: All Instruments (piano, violin, cello, guitar, accordion, ukulele, organ, harpsichord, harmonica, flute, recorder, or other orchestral instrument) and voice, as well as ethnic instruments. We also accept composition, music arrangement, orchestral or choir conducting, music cover, musical theatre.
Applicants of each category will be placed in the appropriate age group(s) based on experience.
There is NO AGE LIMIT for this competition.

Selected winners will be notified for concert portrait and biography submission
PRIZES and AWARDS

Winners will receive medals and certificates by post
Top Prize winners will be featured on our competition website and social media sites with a concert portrait, biography, and their prize winning video.
Over $3000 CASH PRIZES in total will be awarded at the discretion of the jury. The jury reserves the right to not award any of the prizes; (ex aqueo) splitting a prize between several contestants. Decisions of the adjudicators are FINAL.
RULES & REGULATIONS
Categories: Instrumental (Piano, Violin, Guitar, Flute and any orchestral instrument) & Voice
Participants can submit a link of a video recording of their performance. One piece of music per application.
Incomplete applications or those not including the required documents will not be taken into consideration.
If a member of the jury has taught a competitor within the last two years, he will abstain from assessing that competitor.
Candidates cannot claim legal rights to recordings, photos or broadcasts that may be made in connection with the competition. All legal rights are reserved by the Quebec Music Competition and no fee is payable to any competitor for performances, photos, recordings or television broadcasts them.
VIDEO REQUIREMENTS
An unedited video of the performance forwarded to us as a Youtube link. Edited videos will not be accepted.
Make sure that the video is set to either PUBLIC or UNLISTED on Youtube. Private links on Youtube are not openable and hence will not be accepted. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that the video link is openable.
The video must clearly show the face and hands of the performer.
Professional quality recording is not mandatory. However, the sound must be clearly audible.
Categories: Participants will be judged based on age and experience (duration of study of their instrument).
Repertoire requirement: One piece of music (free choice) that is reflective of the applicant's current level of performance. One piece of music refers to a piece of music that contains only one movement, or one movement taken from a larger scale work, such as a sonata or concerto.
Music Scores: Participants are required to submit electronic copies of their scores within 3 days of their application. The latest date for score submission is 25th May 2024. Failure to submit the scores in time may lead to disqualification. Please do not mail in physical scores. Only electronic score sent to the address below will be accepted.

Memorization: Memorization is not mandatory. However, participants may choose to perform by memory.
One application per instrument. Candidates are required to make a second application should they wish to play more than one piece of music (same instrument) or to compete in another instrument.
Candidates who fail to submit their videos before the video submission deadline will be disqualified.
All application fees submitted are non-refundable.

$135 CDN per application (per solo instrument).
$270 for Duo Application

Judging:
The decision of the jury is final and cannot be appealed.
Multiple awards may be given in each age category.

Letter of Recommendation and Transcript
Participants who have participated in the Quebec Music Competition (International Competition) for a minimal of four (4) consecutive years may quality for a Letter of Recommendation for College / University. Letters of recommendation from the Quebec Music Competition (Online International Competition) are accepted at various Colleges and Universities across US and Canada. Please send us your request for the letter with photos of your Quebec Music Competition winners' certificates when it is time for you to apply.
